    Counterblow hammer from Schuler on its way to customer RN Gupta

    When customers require larger forgings, there is no way around a larger machine. This was one of the reasons why RN Gupta & Co LTD, a family-run company from India, ordered a new type DG 63h Bêché counterblow hammer from Schuler. The supplier with its 1,500 employees will use the hammer to produce flanges, pipe fittings, and valves for the oil and gas industry, as well as parts for the automotive and railroad industries.

    RN Gupta was founded in 1948, and as one of the leading manufacturers of forgings in India, quality is of the utmost importance for them. Their President Gaurav Gupta decided to order a counterblow hammer from Schuler. “We were also impressed with Schuler’s good references and the service availability here in India,” the President explained during the factory acceptance test at the Erfurt plant. By using simulations, the global market leader in forming technology was also able to assist RN Gupta in optimizing its forging process. Additionally, the factory acceptance test showed how both companies are equally striving for high quality.

    With an impact capacity of over 630 kJ, the pneumatic counterblow hammer for RN Gupta can produce flanges and gears with diameters of up to 1,000 millimeters. These are significantly larger dimensions than the company has been able to offer currently. Thanks to the pneumatic drive, very high forging energy levels can be achieved. The sturdy design of the uprights, together with a solid guide system, ensures high precision during forging. Another advantage of the pneumatic drive is that it has fewer parts compared to a hydraulic drive. This makes the counterblow hammer more robust and simplifies maintenance.
