In the presence of several high-ranking members of the provincial government, Schuler today held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new demonstration center in the north Chinese port of Tianjin. As of the coming year, the new “Servo TechCenter Tianjin” will feature a state-of-the-art press with TwinServo Technology (TST) and a force of 1,600 metric tons. Schuler is investing over ten million euros in the project.

“We have registered a growing interest in our servo presses also on the Chinese market,” says Schuler CEO Stefan Klebert. “With our Servo-TechCenter Tianjin, we are creating an ideal demonstration and reference center for existing and potential customers.” With a population of 14 million, Tianjin is located near to the capital Beijing within a network of car manufacturers and their suppliers.

Construction of the Servo-TechCenter Tianjin is due to be completed in spring 2015. As of 2016, Schuler will also use the facility to produce parts for the growing Chinese market for dual-clutch and automatic transmissions. With a floor space of around 6,500 square meters, the facility will initially employ around 30 Schuler staff rising to 50 to 60 in the second expansion stage.
