Further award for Icon V-Drive
New Schuler press receives German Packaging Award
Schuler's Icon V-Drive: Best Packaging Machine of 2012
First the Innovation Award at the Metpack packaging fair, then the prestigious red dot design award and now the German Packaging Award: Schuler’s Icon V-Drive can now officially call itself the “Best Packaging Machine of 2012”, thanks to its technical concept for manufacturing aerosol cans and its futuristic design. The external housing of the Icon V-Drive was designed by the Ulm-based agency designship.
The latest award was presented at a gala ceremony on the eve of the FachPack fair in Nuremberg (September 25 to 27, 2012). “After being initially nominated in 2011, we are delighted to have now won the German Packaging Award,” says Dieter Merkle, Managing Director at Schuler Pressen GmbH. “We regard it as both an honor and a motivation to continually improve Schuler’s press lines for the packaging industry.”
The jury of the German Packaging Institute (dvi) is made up of independent experts from professional associations, leading research institutes, universities, the media and industry. This year, they had to choose from a total of 232 entries. Under the patronage of the German Ministry of Economics and Technology, the jury first nominates 58 of the submissions and then uses a points system to
select the winners in five categories. The Icon V-Drive was able to beat off two competitors.
Schuler’s new packaging machine not only boasts high output rates
but can also achieve material savings of up to 40 percent. What’s
more, the Icon V-Drive is able to process 100 percent recyclable
materials, such as aluminum alloys and tinplate.
