The purchase of a press is an investment which needs careful consideration – for large car manufacturers and even more so for mid-size suppliers or small metalworking firms. However, the press does not always have to be new: Schuler Pressen and Vögtle Service also offer a wide range of used machinery.
Schuler can supply used mechanical presses from 800 metric tons of press force as well as equipment for electric motor laminations and packaging products. “A second-hand press not only means lower investment costs, but also shorter waiting times until production,” explains Klaus Rühle, head of the International Used Machines division at Schuler Pressen. “And as an OEM, we have access to all the data and facts the customer needs.”
Vögtle covers all hydraulic presses and mechanical presses up to 800 metric tons. “We have an extensive inventory of several hundred mechanical and hydraulic presses: open-front, straight-sided, eccentric, knuckle-joint, transfer, screw, impact extrusion and draw presses as well as automatic blanking presses,” states Vögtle CEO Thomas Weber. The subsidiary of Schuler AG based in nearby Eislingen also has a wide range of coil lines and peripherals, such as feeders, decoilers and straighteners.
“Should we not have a particular press in stock, our direct access to the global market enables us to arrange a sale,” adds Rühle. “We offer customers a one-stop service with a global network of dealers and service staff.” The specialists of Schuler and Vögtle take care of the dismantling, reassembling, transport, storage, overhauling and modernization of the press – for example in the form of new drive, clutch and brake systems, blanking shock damping, control systems or automation.
Other services include the retrofitting of presses to meet legal safety standards, the disposal of old equipment, and – if required – also the production of replacement parts, such as eccentric shafts, bearings, guides, crankpins, connecting rods, slides and hydraulic components. “As an economic alternative, we also offer customers the possibility to lease high-performance, modernized used press systems,” states Klaus Rühle.
Schuler and Vögtle will be exhibiting together at the Usetec trade show from April 22 to 24, 2013 in Cologne (Hall 6, Stand A/103).
