Die Design & Stiffness Simulation

    Description

Hydroforming dies have to meet extreme demands. With forming pressures of up to 30,000 psi, large forces are generated inside the tool cavity. Schuler uses stiffness simulations to understand the forces in a hydroform die. With help of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), critical and weak areas in the tool design can be detected and eliminated. The fatigue lifetime of a hydroform tool can be predicted. In addition, the simulation provides information about the kind of material that should be used.
