Coil feeding

Description

In the case of blank cutting lines by Schuler a threading wedge is used for the feeding of the coil leading edge from the decoiler into the downstream equipment. A threading wedge consists of pivoting, telescoping/tapering feeding tables that form the feeding channel for the outside diameter for almost any coil. It doesn't matter whether the strip is inserted from above, from below or from above and below - there is a suitable design for every application. The threading wedge can be placed directly in front of the straightener or in front of the cropping shear. When using a cropping shear the threading wedge is equipped with draw-off rollers. As an option, but long standard practice at Schuler, a second pair of draw-off rollers may be used. This so called clean/dirty roller design guarantees the highest level of protection for the material and the equipment. Using the dirty rollers, the soiled leading edge of the coil is drawn in and fed to the cropping shear, then clean rollers than transport the coil material into the dwonstream equipment.
