From the coil to the finished part

Coil lines and press technology from a single source

Schuler offers complete high-performance forming systems with coil lines supplied by Schuler Automation. For the mass-manufacturing of parts on automatic blanking and forming presses equipped with servo drives, press operators can also benefit from Schuler’s group-wide synergies in the field of press and automation technology. At the market launch of its new press technology on January 18, 2007, in Göppingen, Germany, Schuler presented an automated production system with a 2,500 kN servo press and long-format coil feeding line, consisting of a decoiler with coil lifting platform, a straightening device and a roller feed.

The decoiler is designed for coil stock with external diameters of up to 1,800 mm and weights of up to 7.4 tons. The hydraulic coil lifting platform can be optionally fitted with two coil support rolls, which allow preliminary positioning of the coil while at the same time preventing the coil end from springing up. Narrow coil stock is secured by anti-tilt bars which can be fitted manually. The coil fanning range is between 470 and 520 mm.
The straightening device with two feed rolls and six straightening rollers ensures safe coil transport and enables the re-rolling of coils in reverse operation. All feed and straightening rolls are hardened, ground and hard chromium plated to ensure long service life.

Two feed rollers with a diameter of 160 mm are responsible for the coil feeding process. Additional accuracy is provided by a metering wheel. Depending on the particular production requirements, this wheel can be coated differently to prevent markings on sensitive materials. Trouble-free coil feed is also ensured by generous upper roller lifting. The feed system accuracy is + 0.05 mm.

Schuler coil lines offer uniform control architecture and visualization for all components. Press operators benefit from a simple tryout phase, the possibility to quickly troubleshoot malfunctions and a standardized documentation system.
