Efficient system solutions for press hardening
Press hardening (hot stamping) is a process for the manufacture of high-strength parts. The parts are hardened by heating, forming and controlled cooling. Steels with starting tensile strengths of 500 to 700 N / mm
2 achieve strengths of 1.300 to 1.600 N /mm
2 in the process. After heating, robots or transfer systems provide the transport of the hot parts into the die of the hydraulic press where forming takes place. The controlled cooling takes place in water cooled dies and in a downstream cooling zone. The capacity of the hydraulic press can range from 8.000 to 12.000 kN. The finished parts are trimmed in mechanical presses with the Schuler Soft-Shock or in laser cells.
Your advantages
- Greater tensile strength and reduced part weight
- Improved rigidity of the auto body
- Improved crash characteristics
- New possibilities for part design
- Superior repeat accuracy without elastic expansion
- Use of less costly material rather than high strength steels
