History

1963	Founding of Machine Tool Plant Herrmann Schleicher for the manufacture of coil feeding lines for presses
1964	In subsequent years the company does pioneering work in automation of the manufacturing process in the areas of feeding, mechanizing, cut-to-length, slitting and contoured blanks.  The company was one of the first systems suppliers.
1990	Acquisition by the Schuler Group
1992	Merger of Schleicher Automation GmbH with Gemminger Machine Tools GmbH, founded in 1973
1999	Reorganization of the companies into Schuler Automation GmbH & Co. KG

Core competencies

Schuler Automation in Heßdorf builds advanced machines and lines for both sheet metal processing (steel and light alloy sheet) and for automation and transport tasks on the production line.  Customers include the automobile industry and their suppliers, the electric motor and appliance industries. 
The product spectrum ranges from decoilers, roller straighteners, coil washers, high-performance roll feeds and cut-to-length lines – either as stand-alone equipment or as dies in blanking presses.  The product line also includes stacking equipment for blanks as well as high-speed NC transfers with advanced Motion Control Systems for all press models in current use.  Since 2006 the Heßdorf facility has also been used for the manufacture of 2D and 3D laser equipment for cutting or welding as well as automation components and process technology for forging, equipment for blanking and drawing technology and complete roll profiling lines, such as those used in continuous processing of foam-filled sandwich components. 
In addition to its customers in the automobile industry Schuler Automation in Heßdorf also equips a large number of sheet metal processing companies with automation solutions.  These include sheet metal service centers, companies involved in thin sheet processing and the manufacturers of coins.
The service department of Schuler Automation services its own equipment and that of other manufacturers, supports customers in process optimization, offers preventive maintenance and repairs for entire sectors of the metalworking industry, engineers and delivers modernization and rebuilding of complete production lines.
