Roll feed

Description

The roll feed is used for precision drive of the coil strip material into a shear or press. The accuracy of the material feed ensured by a metering wheel. Depending on the surface of the coil material the surfaces of the feed rollers and the metering wheel as well can be supplied with various protective coatings such as, for example, PU or Topochrome.
Feed systems from Schuler ensure flawless operation in coil feeding. They are noted for rugged construction and for ease of maintenance.  The feed rolls are hardened, ground, and coated with Topochrome to ensure the highest degree of feeding accuracy, long service life and to prevent contamination of surfaces and corrosion. The intermediate lifting of the upper rollers permits the use of dies with pilot pins or a high degree of longitudinal curvature. The drive of both rollers is provided by play-free gearing via a three-phase AC motor with servo control.
To ensure optimal cleanliness in the manufacturing process the system is equipped with automated roller cleaning. In this procedure a synthetic scraper is applied to the rotating roller and removes even the smallest particles of dirt. Schuler also offer feed systems that are equipped with inductive and optical weld seam recognition. Any non-conforming coil sections are automatically removed by means of the NC control as production continues.
